Two days until John and I leave on our romantic weekend away! I am sooo excited!! Of course not too thrilled to hear that apparently one of the teachers within PVCA is hoping that means we come home with another baby. This teacher has shared with me that she thinks we are a great family and our kids are so much fun and we should have a bunch. I really, REALLY hope they are not praying for this in opening. That is how a few babies came to be from families within our school. Oh out of the mouth of babes.
And John and I are not the only ones that are excited. Alex is counting the days down and announcing them every morning, and about a million times throughout the day. He is sooo excited to go to grandma Doni's for the weekend.
Ryan was acting like he was looking forward to it. He kept making comments about how he was looking forward to not be around us anymore. That he couldn't wait until we left and didn't come back, etc. His counselor said he was doing this as his way to cope with the feelings we might not come back. To push us away and make it seem like it didn't bother him that we are leaving.
Well today with Alex announced that we would be gone in 2 days, Ryan was not so excited about that. He looked up all shocked and goes "no, not in 2 days." "Yep, 2 days." "No we have.." and then he remembered the days. So he said he was counting today as a day, tomorrow as a day, and Friday as a day, so it was 3. I told him that when I took him to school on Friday we wouldn't see him again until Sunday night. He wasn't so thrilled about that.
I think the boy is starting to bond with us, not that he really wants too. It is probably safer from his point of view if he doesn't care about us one way or another so he wont get hurt.

5 down, thousands to go
My boys are EXTREMELY hard on their jeans. We are lucky if they can make a pair of jeans last over a month without getting holes in them. So after taking the 3 youngest kids to the doctor and getting a diagnosis of colds for each one(I knew it but with our trip this weekend I had to know for sure), I went to Walmart and got some vics vapor rub and orange juice for the kids and 1/4 a yard of about 5 different fabrics and some interfacing, I came home to tackle the growing pile of holey jeans.
Now I had the look of patches, they look so dorky to me when they are placed over the top. But with the amount of money it cost for jeans for 3 boys, I thought it was worth it to have them look a little dorky. But when starting I decided to leave the hole showing by putting the patch inside the jeans.
So now I have 5 pairs of jeans done so far, 2 that I just can't patch because the legs are too small to fit over my sewing machine arm, and more to do. There are probably some more in the wash to be patched also. But hey I have 5 pairs that are patched and the boys will be warmer.
Now I think I am going to pick up the living room a bit, work on Ryan's quilt(only 2 more rows before I can add the border on and have the front done) and then go get the boys from school. I enjoy these kind of days where I get to use my creative side. My house might suffer, but mommy is alittle less stressed. I mean that is all that really matters.

What a crazy couple of weeks!!
Well it has been quite a while since I last posted. It has been a crazy past couple of weeks. We have spent our last few weeks of summer trying to get ready for school. Since our other education members have been out of town or working, I helped when I could with teachers' inservice week, we had a work day at the school and got some projects and cleaning done. I am so excited for the 2011-2012 school year of Platte Valley Christian Academy!!
Then this week in the midst of everything, my sister had broke her foot so I helped her out some this week. Then Friday in the afternoon while John was at work, I recieved a phone call asking if we could take in my 10 year old cousin for a while. We don't know how long it will be for. So he came that afternoon and we had to rearrange rooms so he could have his own room. Praise God we have the room!
Then today we had Kennedy's birthday party. Her birthday was last Monday but we decided to have the party today. We had a Tangled theme and she loved it. When she walked into the dining room and saw everything, she goes "Mommy, this is sooooo beautiful!" She was so thrilled with all her presents and her presents.
So now we are a family of 7(at least for a while), and school starts this week for Alex and JJ. And now with Ryan staying here, Tuesdays starts a a daily schedule including taking 3 kids to 2 different schools and trying to make sure everyone is on time and trying to figure out the year's schedules since PVCA and the public schools have different days off, end of quarters, and such. Going to have to figure this all out so it works.

Your actions are your own
The other day while unpacking Alex's bag from camp I realized he had left his nice new-to-us tan dress pants, his NEW towel, AND his NEW camp shirt at camp. I asked him about it and he said he forgot them. I told him that he needed to start remember all his items because we don't have the money to always replace the things he forgets and his comment was "Mom, I am a forgetful kid. You know that. I forget all the time." So I told him that yes, he might be forgetful, but it was something that he needed to work on. That his being forgetful didn't make it alright that he left 3 items at camp.
So fast forward to 2 conversations I had in the past 2 days, one was with a women about how her child learning that she couldn't use her learning disablity as an excuse to not try and also about a man who is accused of killing his wife, who is trying to use drinking as an excuse that he was not

A bunch of legos!!
We were incredibly blessed yesterday! One of my friends of facebook mentioned her son was packing up legos to sell, I, being a HUGE fan of legos, asked what they were asking for them and how many they had. She said there was a lot and they were selling them for $50. Sold!!
We went and picked them up yesterday and there was 2 big boxes of legos, including a castle and a bunch of sets. The boys were so excited!! They loved going through all the boxes and discovering the different sets that were now theirs. Alex said it was the best present he ever got. JJ told me I was the best mommy. All in all, I think it was the best $50 we ever spent on the boys!!

Anyway so he started telling me about the camp as soon as I picked him up and was asking to go. I said "but if you go to camp you will miss my birthday. Don't you want to celebrate my birthday." I was trying to tease him because I knew we would probably let him go. He goes "yes, Mom, I want to celebrate birthday AND go to camp. But I can only do one, so camp is more important." Made me laugh!!
Then when I picked up JJ from class, he goes "Mommy, I love you. You are the bestest mom. I love you the most on Fridays." I got a kick out of that!!

I AM her mommy!!
I believe that JJ is slightly confused about Livie. Before we had Livie we watched a little girl named Mindy. We watched her 3 days a week from the time she was 3 weeks old until she was about 10 1/2 months. Then because we were having another baby I decided to not watch her anymore.
Well JJ has been asking me off and on for months now if Livie is ours? Where is Livie's mommy? why doesn't Livie go home? The other day he asked if we could keep Livie. I said yes we are keeping her! He then went to Kennedy all excited and said "Sissy we get to keep Livie!" He then asked if Livie's mommy would be sad that we were keeping her. I said "JJ, I am Livie's mommy." He cocked his head, looked at me like I was crazy and goes "Your not Livie's mommy, your our mommy." I said "I am all your mommy." He then walked away saying "Mommy your funny."
Even though JJ doesn't quite believe it, Livie is our baby. I am her mommy, and she isn't going anywhere. And here is a picture to prove that Livie is my baby, a picture of me, Livie, and JJ right after she was born in the hospital. SILLY BOY!!

Escape Artist
Yesterday I took Kennedy to dance class while my brother watched the boys and Livie. I got a phone call in the middle of class and Casey told me that JJ had been picking on Alex so Casey sent him to his room. Casey then went to check on JJ and he found that JJ had opened his window and climbed out the window and was running around outside in the driveway.
Bright side is if there is ever a fire, he will know how to get out of his room. Bad side is that he knows how to do it, so we will have to keep an eye on him when he is in his room. Kids aren't suppose to try climbing out the window until they are teenagers.

First trip to Dentist
Today included a trip to the dentist for the Schimek boys. Alex has 2 cavities which will be easy to fill and not even need shots since children teeth are not as sensitive as adults, but JJ's unfortunately wont be that easy. He has two cavities that started in between his teeth and then he had 2 teeth break off because of the cavities. So his fillings will require shots, but the doctor says on children this young they don't like to use shots, so he suggested oral sedation. Which of course the insurance will not pay for so that is an additional $300.
So I walked into that appointment knowing we would need to have some fillings but never imagining the extent of the need. Just praying these kids don't ever require braces, cause if I don't like an extra $300, I am sure I will really dislike the cost of braces! lol

Thank You Platte Valley Christian Academy
I am thankful to the ministry of Platte Valley Christian Academy! I am seeing the fruit of their labor through my boys' prayer life! Alex is quick to ask for prayer if he is hurt, sick, or having a hard time. He will tell me that I need to pray when I am having a hard time. To think my 6 year old is quicker to bow his head and speak to our God than I am at times. And just the other day when Kennedy fell and hurt her leg, JJ goes "it's ok Mom, I prayed for her." I LOVE that they are learning that their first thought in time of need is to go to their Savior, not the last resort!! PVCA is a huge blessing in our lives!! I am so thankful to the teachers, aides, fellow board members, and parents of the school. I love this school!!

He is growing up too fast!!!
Had a meeting today with Alex's teacher and the other kindergarten mommy. We are planning the kindergarten graduation. It makes me kinda sad, my little man is growing up so fast. We decided to get gowns this year in addition to the hats they always have. They will look so cute in their little gowns. And in addition to Alex's upcoming graduation which reminds me that he is growing up, he came home today upset because the little girl he likes said that one of his friends in her boyfriend. He was heartbroken. And was asking me when he could have a girlfriend when I told him he was too young to be thinking of having a girlfriend. He then asked me to call the little girl's mom to let her know that this little girl was too young. He told me that the little boy likes another girl also and Alex told him to forget about the other girl because it would make the girl that they both like sad if she found out. He said he would rather the little boy only like her even if it means she doesn't like Alex. Oh what a tender spirit my little man has! So today was full of reminders that my baby is growing up faster than I would like!! Seems like just yesterday he was placed in my arms for the first time and today he is wanting a girlfriend and graduating kindergarten.
