Two Days!

Two days until John and I leave on our romantic weekend away! I am sooo excited!! Of course not too thrilled to hear that apparently one of the teachers within PVCA is hoping that means we come home with another baby. This teacher has shared with me that she thinks we are a great family and our kids are so much fun and we should have a bunch.  I really, REALLY hope they are not praying for this in opening. That is how a few babies came to be from families within our school. Oh out of the mouth of babes.

And John and I are not the only ones that are excited. Alex is counting the days down and announcing them every morning, and about a million times throughout the day. He is sooo excited to go to grandma Doni's for the weekend.

Ryan was acting like he was looking forward to it. He kept making comments about how he was looking forward to not be around us anymore. That he couldn't wait until we left and didn't come back, etc. His counselor said he was doing this as his way to cope with the feelings we might not come back. To push us away and make it seem like it didn't bother him that we are leaving.

Well today with Alex announced that we would be gone in 2 days, Ryan was not so excited about that. He looked up all shocked and goes "no, not in 2 days." "Yep, 2 days." "No we have.." and then he remembered the days. So he said he was counting today as a day, tomorrow as a day, and Friday as a day, so it was 3. I told him that when I took him to school on Friday we wouldn't see him again until Sunday night. He wasn't so thrilled about that.

I think the boy is starting to bond with us, not that  he really wants too. It is probably safer from his point of view if he doesn't care about us one way or another so he wont get hurt.

I really didn't have a clue

When I made the decision to marry John over 9 years ago, I didn't have any idea what it really meant. I was young, 17 turning 18 later that month. I was very much in love, but in some ways it was a kinda immature love. We had a strong love, but it was still a love of 2 young people who were still new to be adults. Now some people probably thought that that meant we wouldn't last, that we were just too young to know what real love was. But they were wrong.

We were very much in love. I knew when I said yes to John that I was marrying my very best friend, but I have to admit I didn't realize what marrying my best friend meant. Our love is a deep love that is built on a mutual respect and deep LIKING of one another. I think one of the key points of any good marriage is that you need to LIKE you spouse, truly enjoy spending time with them.

Over the years John and I have gone through some hard times, financial issues, personal issues, lose of a baby, etc and through the power of the Lord, those times have made us stronger. Can I say that everyday of our marriage I enjoyed. Oh HECK NO!! There are some days I look at John and think "Boy would I like to through some hot grease on you."(quote from a movie but it totally works here) Not everyday have we gotten along. We have had some real problems to work through and when we got married I never imaged that we would face those problems. But all those times have made the love I have for him deeper. He is my lover, my best friend, my confindant, my #1 under God.

John, thank you very much for being my man! As we are preparing to celebrate our 14th anniversary since we got together(I was 13 and he was 15 when we started dating) I want you to know that marrying you was one of the greatest decisions of my life. You are an amazing husband, friend, father, and man of God. I couldn't image making this journey without you. Thank you for being my other half and giving me 5 beautiful babies. I love you!!

Dance the night away!

Yesterday John and I went to a wedding for a man from church that John has known practically his whole life. He is an awesome man, who had been praying for a wife for a long time and was giving up hope that he would ever get married. Then he went to a friend's wedding and came back home with such joy, he met this amazing woman. It was so wonderful to see this godly man, marrying the woman that he prayed for all those years. It was a beautiful wedding.

We were lucky to find a babysitter to watch all 4 of the kids so we could go to the wedding and stay for a good portion of the reception. It was a really nice recption with a dinner and dancing. The bride was from Brazil so there was some fast music for the dancing. John and I even got up and danced some, which was a blast. One advantage of getting older is not being so insecure and being able to just let go and have fun. I don't have anyone to impress. I have a wonderful man who loves me even if I dance like an uncordinated bamboon. But the I did end up with a hurt hip over it all.

I was looking forward to slow dancing with John all day. And they had lots of slow songs playing during dinner and then for all the traditional wedding dances. But once they let the guest dance it was all fast music. So we were getting ready to leave and they FINALLY had a slow song we could dance too. So there we were, John holding me in his arms. It was so right, so natural. This man who I have been with almost 14 years, married to for 9. I have been in his arms so many times on the dance floor and everytime it gives me butterflies. Looking into his eyes, laughing at inside jokes and just enjoying being with him. I am so proud to be his wife!!
