365 Days of Christmas

Tonight was Platte Valley Academy's annual Christmas program. It was called "365 days of Christmas" and was so cute! The kids did such a good job! I was so proud to see my handsome little men up on the stage looking so cute in their suits.  I made all the kids dress up, so we were one good lookin' family tonight! It was a great night of fun and fellowship! Reminds me why I love PVCA so much!!

Here are some pictures:

1st day of PVCA's school year

This morning was Alex's first day of school. He is in 1st grade this year. He was so excited to see all his friends. He didn't even kiss me goodbye or anything, just rushed off with his buddies. Of course I was threatening to sing happy birthday to one of his buddies. Lol. I love being the goofy mom who all the kids get a kick out of.

It was a little crazy this morning getting back into the routine of going to school again. And we almost walked out the door without Alex's lunch(going to have to get used to sending him lunch because this is our first year of that) I think that I will enjoy him going to school all day because it will make me prioritize my time better. I am already thinking of what I want to do before the boys(Alex and Ryan) need to be picked up from school. Last year the time that Alex was at school I often wasnt' even home, since he only went a half day. Praying I can be a good little housewife/mommy and get my house in order most days. Yes even the laundry which I often let overflow and then it overwhelms me. Well better stop blogging and get to the dishes. Unfortuantely they don't wash themselves.

What a crazy couple of weeks!!

Well it has been quite a while since I last posted. It has been a crazy past couple of weeks. We have spent our last few weeks of summer trying to get ready for school. Since our other education members have been out of town or working, I helped when I could with teachers' inservice week, we had a work day at the school and got some projects and cleaning done. I am so excited for the 2011-2012 school year of Platte Valley Christian Academy!!

Then this week in the midst of everything, my sister had broke her foot so I helped her out some this week. Then Friday in the afternoon while John was at work, I recieved a phone call asking if we could take in my 10 year old cousin for a while. We don't know how long it will be for. So he came that afternoon and we had to rearrange rooms so he could have his own room. Praise God we have the room!

Then today we had Kennedy's birthday party. Her birthday was last Monday but we decided to have the party today. We had a Tangled theme and she loved it. When she walked into the dining room and saw everything, she goes "Mommy, this is sooooo beautiful!" She was so thrilled with all her presents and her presents.

So now we are a family of 7(at least for a while), and school starts this week for Alex and JJ. And now with Ryan staying here, Tuesdays starts a a daily schedule including taking 3 kids to 2 different schools and trying to make sure everyone is on time and trying to figure out the year's schedules since PVCA and the public schools have different days off, end of quarters, and such. Going to have to figure this all out so it works.

So I haven't posted in a while. It has been kinda crazy around here. The 2011-2012 school year is getting ready to begin which means extra stuff for us to get done. This year since I am the only one on the education committee that will be able to be at the school, I am overseeing it. Which is kinda a good thing. I have alot of stuff to do for admissions committee to get ready for the first day of school so being there through the week will give the chance to get it done.

I am so excited for the new school year. We have an amazing group of teachers and a great bunch of students. The Lord has blessed us extremely the last couple of years and saw us through changes in the school. Now we are at a point where we are seeing new leaders rising up, parents excited and more active in the school, and just an amazing attitude for this year. I can't wait to see all the kids again. I know the kids are extremely excited too.

Platte Valley Christian Academy this is going to be an amazing year!!!

Need New Books for Our School Library

To I went to the school to help the Liberian start working on the school's library. Most of our school books are donated which is totally amazing, but the also means that the majority of them look really old. And lets face it kids often don't look past the cover to see the adventure that a good book could take them on. So our goal is to try and replace older looking ones with either new versions of the same titles if they are really good ones, or totally different books.

Looking through the books made me think of my own love affair when reading and where it all started. I have always enjoyed reading, but it really started with my 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Fudge. She would read to our class almost everyday. We read some really great books, I don't even remember the titles of all of them, but I can still remember some, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, The Boxcar Children, and the Orphan Train Children series. It is unfortunate that kids do not know the fun they can have by opening the pages of a book. What lands they can see, life they can live.

So my prayer is that we can find good deals on books for our library or receive some donations of newer books that we can place on our book shelves. I am planning on trying and finding some tomorrow at the local used book store.

Every Friday at Platte Valley Christian Academy the school has chapel, where pastors, missionaries, and people in ministries come and speak to the kids. Well today the guy from Bethel Bible Camp came and gave all the kids brochures for summer camp. I happened to be at the school for a meeting and Alex's teacher told me that Alex had signed up for summer camp. Sounds like my boy, make plans before checking with mom and dad.

Anyway so he started telling me about the camp as soon as I picked him up and was asking to go. I said "but if you go to camp you will miss my birthday. Don't you want to celebrate my birthday." I was trying to tease him because I knew we would probably let him go. He goes "yes, Mom, I want to celebrate birthday AND go to camp. But I can only do one, so camp is more important." Made me laugh!!

Then when I picked up JJ from class, he goes "Mommy, I love you. You are the bestest mom. I love you the most on Fridays." I got a kick out of that!!

God's creations are so awesome!!

Well this morning I was woke up at 6 a.m. with a phone call that 2 of our teachers a PVCA were sick. The only one that wasn't sick was our preschool teacher. I felt kinda bad because I am thinking it might have been our family that spread it to the school, but not much I can do about that now

So this call started the frenzy of phone calls to find subs. Luckily we were able to get the day all worked out. I did have the priveledge of going to the school this morning for a while and watch videos with the older kids. We watched some videos from a creationist talking about how different animals that have different characteristics and traits that are amazing and that prove that there had to be a creator to create their bodies to do these things, or give them the knowledge of what to do without being taught.

For example a giraffe's blood vessels running in its neck were specially made different from normal vessels, when a giraffe bends down to take a drink of water his sudden blood pressure change would blow his brains out. But because God foreseen this, he created their vessels to completely close when they bends down and he also gave them a special tissue at the base of the brain, that acts like a sponge and soaks up any blood that got past the closeoffs. This is not something that can evolve in a giraffe, because the first giraffe created would have died the first time it bent down to get a drink never getting the chance to have a second generation.
Also did you know that on the 19th day, not on the 18th or the 20th, a chick still within the egg, breaks into the air sack at the top of the egg to have more air to breathe. And then it has 6 hours to break out of the shell or it dies. It has this knowledge without be shown or told what to do, because God created it with this knowledge.

I was amazed at the awesome things that God came up with when he was creating the world and all those within it. The old pick up line is so true in this case. When God created you, he was showing off. When God was creating this world, he was truly showing off all his talent!!!

I love PVCA!!!

Last night was Platte Valley Christian Academy's annual dinner theater. Being there reminded me why I love this school so much. This ministry is awesome! We, as an extention of the home, help to train up young men and women of God who strive to bring glory to God's name. I was so proud of not only Alex and JJ, but also all the other students, the teachers(especially Mrs. Dishman for directing this awesome musical), Mr. Dishman for creating a good meal, the families for pulling together and manning the event, and all those who came to cheer on our school.

Thank You Platte Valley Christian Academy

I am thankful to the ministry of Platte Valley Christian Academy! I am seeing the fruit of their labor through my boys' prayer life! Alex is quick to ask for prayer if he is hurt, sick, or having a hard time. He will tell me that I need to pray when I am having a hard time. To think my 6 year old is quicker to bow his head and speak to our God than I am at times. And just the other day when Kennedy fell and hurt her leg, JJ goes "it's ok Mom, I prayed for her." I LOVE that they are learning that their first thought in time of need is to go to their Savior, not the last resort!! PVCA is a huge blessing in our lives!! I am so thankful to the teachers, aides, fellow board members, and parents of the school. I love this school!!

Peace and Quiet!

There is something totally amazing about having a completely quiet house when there are 5 other people in the house and 2 dogs. John is sleeping, all 4 kids are napping, and so are the dogs. Totally peace and quiet. Which today is totally appreciated considering my head is hurting. But really, how many moms with 4 kids can say that on an almost daily basis they get all their kids down for a nap at the same time.

On another note, today was our kindergarten roundup and preschool preview at PVCA. Although I really wish there had been more people bring their children, it went really good. I am so encouraged because of the group of parents we have now, and we have a great vision for the school. There are people that want to see the school grow and more students which has been a vision of mine since we started the school. Praise God for this!!
